A Mexican delegation that assisted in combating the severe wildfires in Los Angeles returned after two weeks. The fires have claimed at least 25 lives and devastated over 15,000 hectares.


Mexican Delegation Returns After Fighting Wildfires

Two fires in Los Angeles, California, have left unprecedented devastation in the state, with approximately 15,000 hectares and 12,000 properties destroyed. The Mexican delegation that provided assistance in extinguishing these wildfires has returned to the country, according to the National Defense Secretariat (Defensa).

The Mexican team, composed of firefighters, Civil Protection personnel, and fire control specialists, arrived in the United States on January 11 and fought the flames for about two weeks. They returned to Mexico on Saturday, January 25, 2025.

The reception of Humanitarian Aid 'CEHUI' was handled by authorities such as the Secretary of National Defense, the Secretary of Foreign Relations, and diplomatic representatives from both countries. During the event, recognition was given to the personnel of the Mexican Army, the National Forest Commission, and the National Civil Protection Coordination, highlighting their training, professionalism, and humanity.

Regarding the fatalities, a total of 25 people have been reported dead due to the fires in Los Angeles. Seventeen of these deaths occurred in the Eaton area, and the remaining eight are related to the fires in Palisades, which are only 33% and 14% controlled, respectively.
